Tip #28
Wrong File Type
Have you ever opened a file, expecting a document, spreadsheet, or presentation, only to see a screen
filled with gobbledegook? This barrage of random characters is what can happen when Windows mistakes a file
type, and trys to open the file using the wrong program (and/or file type). When this happens, do NOT save
the file. Instead, exit the file and program without saving, and then open the file manually using the correct
format and program. Saving this type of file in the wrong format can PERMANENTLY corrupt the file, making it
useless to you.
