"Dead" Day

Every 22 minutes in North America, someone dies because of a drunk driver. To make this statistic more real, during one day in May, 15 students at the Parry Sound High School were taken out of class, one at a time and brought back as "ghosts": they could no longer speak. An assembly concluded the day and the ghosts each told their poignant story.

School Assembly Speakers

True stories are excellent to bring the message home about risk taking, drugs and alcohol. Every fall, a guest speaker is brought into the schools to reach Grade 7-12 students. In the fall of 2004, Katy Hutchison told the story of how her husband was killed by teenagers who no longer could use their judgment due to drug & alcohol impairment.
