BACKGROUND
INFORMATION
The
RISK Project of Muskoka-Parry Sound has been very active in
our area over the last five years implementing and supporting
alcohol and drug use prevention programs.
We
are structured as three Community Coalitions – Muskoka, West
Parry Sound and East Parry Sound – each representing the three
main geographical areas in our district. These Coalitions have
a varied membership, ranging from police, teachers and school
boards to probation, child and family, addiction, and sexual
assault services, businesses, libraries, students and volunteers.
Coalitions assist in the planning of programs, as well as in
the implementation and evaluation of these programs.
A
Steering Committee, composed of members from each of
the Coalitions, a Health Unit representative, the RISK Project
Officer and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health representative,
oversee the project and help to set its direction and objectives.
