Who are we
The Smiths Falls FOCUS Community
Coalition is a highly motivated group of agencies and individuals that come
together to address preventing injuries and chronic diseases associated with
substance abuse for the Smiths Falls and district area. This group has
representation from the enforcement, education,
not-for-profit and health sectors in the community and is always willing to
welcome interested parties to the table. The Smiths Falls FOCUS Community
Coalition began in 1998 after a close examination and needs assessment of
the community. It is currently one of 22 sites across the province of
Ontario doing effective and interesting programs in their respective
communities. The project is 100% funded by the Ministry of Health Promotion and will
be funded until 2009 at which time we hope that the Government of Ontario will propose
a new funding cycle for the project. The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit
is the lead
agency role for the Smiths Falls FOCUS group and supports all of the
Coalition’s efforts.
